Hey there, Twiggy Sparks! Four down, two to go. Base is a G4 Twilight Sparkle. Mane, tail, and tiara are Stonex self-hardening clay, and she's painted with acrylics, including a full-body repaint.
Twilight Sparkle is a less ambitious mod than some of my others, but I plan to make up for it with Fluttershy (coming up next) and especially with what I've got planned for Rarity. This is actually my second attempt at modding Twiggy Sparks; my first one didn't go so well. I think Twilight has the coolest art design out of the main six ponies, and it took me a couple tries to get her looking like her awesome self. Mainly, the coat color of the toy is a brighter, more magenta-purple than the dusky purple she is on the show. So I did my first full-body repaint! Aaaaaand... she came out looking flat, gray, and kind of undead. Not ideal.
I wanted to depict her in her "Avatar State," so I painted her eyes solid white and put lightning bolts running up her legs. She looked even MORE dull, flat and undead after I did that, and now she was covered in weird-looking lightning. On top of that, I couldn't get the color of her hair right--Twilight's coloring is surprisingly subtle. I didn't realize until the second time around that her mane is actually a very dark blue, not purple. Anyway, I scrapped the first pony and started over.
This time, instead of painting her eyes white, I painted irises, pupils, and specular highlights like normal pony eyes, then covered them with purple interference paint (transparent coat of sparkly shinyness) to imply her magical-ness. It looked so good that I covered her entirely in purple interference paint. Now, she looks either magical, or like a disco-robot. Either way, better than she looked as the original toy.
Coming up next: Fluttershy's dream of being a tree is granted.
A deep plum purple could work very well. Really, this custom came out poorly, and I consider my God Tier Twilight to be the "real" Twilight in my collection.
